Our Recycling Process

Our Recycling Process

We recycle many different materials at our recycling facility, and our refined process ensures everything we recycle is treated as responsibly and efficiently as possible.

Below is a breakdown of our recycling process for some of the common materials we collect, buy and receive.

Used Car Scrappage - End of Life Vehicle

We will pay you cash for end of life vehicles. All scrap vehicles delivered or collected are de-polluted. This means that, amongst other things, wheels, tyres, fuel, fluids and other hazardous materials are removed prior to recycling.

We operate an authorized treatment facility (ATF) with Permit #WFP-CN-15-0003-01. We will issue you with a Certificate of Destruction which will confirm that the Vehicle Registration Unit and the destruction of your vehicle will be noted in the National Vehicle File.

Ferrous Metals

Ferrous metals primarily contain iron, and can be easily recycled and reused. These metals are magnetic, but corrode and rust quickly when exposed to moisture. Some ferrous metals we recycle include:

  • End of life vehicle scrap metal
  • Demolition site scrap metal
  • Metal offcuts from manufacturing industries

Non-Ferrous Metals

Non-ferrous metals do not include iron. Instead, they contain more valuable materials which can be extracted and reused. These metals are corrosion resistant and malleable, and highly recyclable. Some of the non-ferrous metals we recycle include:

  • Aluminium
  • Lead
  • Copper and copper alloys
  • Tin
  • Zinc
  • Solids, dusts, powders and filter cakes containing all or any of the above

Cardboard

We recycle a range of cardboard and paper products, including:

  • Cardboard boxes (e.g. cereal boxes)
  • Cardboard packaging
  • Cardboard cores
  • Multi-grade paper (from printers)
  • Sorted office waste paper (such as copier paper, white letter, plain envelopes)
  • Newspapers and magazines
  • Over issue newspapers

Plastics

The harm caused by plastic waste has recently gained a lot of public attention. Plastic pollution has had a particularly devastating impact on the Earth’s marine life, so recycling plastic products is an essential step towards removing plastic waste from the environment.

At Wilton Recycling, we process and recycle plastics collected from our recycle wheelie bins and commercial recycling bins, ensuring they are responsibly handled instead of being sent to landfill.

  • We deliver 100% recovery from waste
  • Operating a clean and safe site
  • A family-run business for nearly 20 years
